Every day you interact with people who are in crisis. This training will help you deal with others effectively and compassionately, even when you're tired, pressured, and in a rush.
- How do you deal with one intense situation after another without getting burned out?

In this two session interactive telephone training you will learn how to:

- Create safety and trust with your patients and colleagues
- Comfort patients and families in stress without taking on their stress and feelings
- Get through each day effectively and efficiently in a way that meets your own needs for meaning, connection and contribution as a health care professional

Melanie has been an RN for thirty years and has worked in most areas of nursing including ICU, L&D, NBICU, Hospice and Psychiatry. Melanie now works with individuals, couples and groups using NVC to heal and transform ways of being, thinking and interacting. John specializes in Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and particularly in NVC mediation -- applying the language, skills and principles of NVC to the process of mediating conflict within oneself, with others, and supporting others who are in conflict. Over the past 7 years, he has co-developed with colleague Ike Lasater NVC mediation training that now includes 5-day residential retreats and year-long immersion programs in the U.S., Europe, and Australia. He has been a trainer of the international Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) since 2000 and is a co-founder of the Bay Area NVC organization (BayNVC). He has studied and worked closely with NVC founder Marshall Rosenberg since 1998 and has been regularly invited by him to be a staff trainer at 9-day international intensive trainings.
